Here’s a question for all of you touring bands out there: How many of you have a Ph.D in mathematics? Oh…only one? Good for you! Step on up and get recognized!

Caribou is by no means a newcomer to the scene. Showing face as early as 2000 under the name Manitoba, and 2006 under the name Caribou, musician Dan Snaith has taken us on a truly individual musical journey. I’m not even sure where exactly Caribou fits on this list, but this blog would have no business on the interweb if we didn’t mention him. Seeing the band live is truly something that can not be explained in words. The band’s most recent album Swim is alive with samples and sounds that can only really be found under the Caribou moniker. In fact, this album was so well taken by the musical world, it was released a second time, with various other artists remixing the songs. We are firm believers that if a song stays in your rotation for almost an entire year, someone’s doing something right.

I guess you have “Odessa” and the rest of the songs from Swim to thank Dan, because Caribou is CERTIFIED GOLD Just What the Doctor Ordered for 2010.
