Blink-182

“All the Small Things.” That’s what last night was about to me. The small things. Forget the fact that every band that played last night were my favorite bands in high school-I didn’t go there for them. I went to see the only band that is worthy of spending the night on the unforviging streets of Beantown for.

I honestly had no idea what to expect going into last night. I saw a bunch of YouTube videos and to be honest, they sounded like what I would imaging diarrhea forming in your stomach would sound like. I wasn’t too concerned about their performance aesthetics though, I was just glad they were back together. I was also a little hesitant to hear the new song they just recorded, which was quickly alleviated when I found out they wouldn’t be playing it, to prevent people hearing it for the first time on some crappy YouTube video. Thank the good lord for Mark’s genius behind that call. I’d rather hear the balls out studio version rather than some half assed live version. The show was missing something though and I’m not sure whether it added or took away from the experience. Aside from a few comments here and there, there weren’t many fart jokes or Mark and Tom talking about jacking off on cookies. I mean however morbid and disgusting, this is part of the Blink-182 musk. It was a professional show. They played their instruments well, sang their parts well and acted like gentlemen. Kind of. It was weird, but not unsettling.

Big point of the night: “Not Now.” By far the best Blink song that never made the cut for legit LP release. I will go on record and say that it was the greatest song of the night. My friends and I jam to that song so hard that I could have dealt with a pants change 10 seconds into the sample at the beginning of the song.

Big point of the night #2: Travis does drum solos. Well. Last tour he went upside down over the crowd while he ripped his drums to shreds. This tour, he did circls over the stage while he swung back and forth like a pendulum. I don’t ever want to play my drums again. Thanks Trav.

I can’t write about this show anymore. Suffice to say, I’ll drive anywhere anytime to see the show again. Twice. Hands down. And you’re coming this time. You can’t die without seeing Blink in the rarest of forms.
