I love when bands don’t take themselves seriously. It’s the ultimate under-chin scratch towards everyone who tries their hardest to make platinum records. It’s even better when these bands don’t sell enough records to be certified platinum, because no matter how hard they tried, their music won’t be remembered like those bands who don’t take themselves seriously will be remembered. Fountains of Wayne wrote a song called “Red Dragon Tattoo” that talks about how getting a tattoo is this dude’s way into this chick’s heart and he doesn’t even realise how ridiculous the concept sounds but does it anyway.

Enter: Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head. Their band name alone is phenomenal. Who cares about Natalie Portman? No one, really. But how about that shaved head of hers from V for Vendetta? That’s some junk to talk about. They came into existence in 2005 at the food court inside the Space Needle. Their songs are about “Fruitsnacks and partying.” They’ve backed up Matt & Kim on a tour. 30 years from now, more people will be laughing to themselves about that song then those three promise-ring-wearing douche bags. What’s their name again?
