I Need you so Much Closer

Call it inspiration, desperation or any other word ending in ‘ation,’ but the simple fact of the matter is that the music industry opperates on a chain of influential events. Simply put, artists need their predecessors. If it wasn’t for them, how would the new artists of today be able to build on their successes?

Take a look, for example, at the band Fall Out Boy. For them to have ever existed, pop-punk would have had to have been popular at some point. Blink-182 virtually made pop-punk a household commodity, though without punk rock, there would be no pop-punk. Bands like the Ramones and the Clash made punk rock what it is today, thus popularizing punk rock. However, for punk rock to exist surf music and traditional rock ‘n’ roll would have needed to exist first.

But surf music? Why? The Ramones covered surf songs just as much as the Beach Boys covered like-minded bands of their time. Therefore, without surf music, and traditional rock ‘n’ roll, the music we listen to and love these days is all a product of ROCK ‘N’ ROLL.
