I was reminded of this great tune today and was bumping it for a while. Ideal for summer grilling, pool lounging, and playing in your car....

Oblivion - Tyler, The Creator
Music for the middle of the night.
I started out clicking strategically… and by the end was just wildly clicking and dancing in my chair.

Local Natives | Who Knows, Who Cares (A Takeaway Show)
This has already made the rounds nearly everywhere but here - thankfully it’s still...
Fatboy Slim - Don’t Let The Man Get You Down
Norman Cook has a way of flirting with the mainstream and the genius. Similar to Christopher Walken’s cameo in Slim’s “Weapon of Choice” video, this track’s hook about “long haired freaky people” strikes a chord in just about everyone. Even if you can’t quite explain it, you can probably identify with it.

Bon Iver - Calgary
I often struggle with what I expect from the follow-up to an artist’s debut. Do I want it to sound the same, at the risk of cheapening what made me fall for the group in the first place? Do I want it to be a departure, at the risk of completely turning me off from the group and any subsequent efforts? It’s the true embodiment of a “game time decision.” I think I’ve made the right one here. Bon Iver has a sound that’s so completely identifiabe that even his efforts to stray from his last album, end up coming full circle in a way that I can’t get mad at. Not even a little.

Memory Tapes - Wait in the Dark
It feels really good to be back in the swing of things. I’ve been fortunate enough to stumble upon a lot of great music over the last few days. I can’t get enough of this track. It’s sonically the gray area between my preferred genres of music, which is a truly impressive feat, in my book.

Chet Faker - No Diggity, 80
This one time in fourth grade, I got the chicken pox. Two days before that, I saw Blackstreet and New Edition live in concert. However, I enjoy Aussie Chet Faker’s spin on the track much better. Call me old fashioned. But chicken pox just suck so bad.

Deadmau5 - Raise Your Weapon (Madeon Remix) @ Pete Tong 05.13.11 by MadeonThere’s something to be said about Madeon. Actually, there are several things to be said. As I’ve mentioned over and over, this dude’s 16 years old. What he’s been able to do with electronic dance music in such a short amount of time is something that everyone needs to be aware of. On top of that, his style is INSTANTLY identifiable. Listen over at his SoundCloud and tell me that he doesn’t have a patented sound. It takes musicians YEARS to solidify themselves in the way Madeon has. Truly an incredible artist.
The Police - Roxanne [Discotech Remix] by discotech
There was a time in my life where I would have paid any amount of money to see The Police live. That day came when they reunited and I saw them at Fenway. Good for me! Double check this Discotech remix of a classic track and make sure it’s turned up to 13.
Crystal Castles - Not In Love (Feat. Robet Smith)
As a fan of both Crystal Castles and The Cure, I am hugely into this track. Somewhat dark, somewhat dancy, this track is sure to stricke a chord in anyone.

The Catalina Rhyme Mixers - Nasa Drugs (Kanye West x Wale x Ratatat) by therecordcrate
It’s the fucking Catalina Rhyme Mixers. What a great name. What a great track. Put this on 10 and get it going.
And we’re back! Life has a funny way of steering you away from what you want to do, in the name of what you need to do. It’s a crime against humanity. Enjoy the next several posts. They’ll fill you in on what’s been sonically filling my head over the last few weeks.
