"You are going to the show!"
I am conducting an experiment. I am going to cover Girl Talk songs. Not the musical parts of it, only the lyrics. Think about it-cover songs are simply new renditions of older songs in similar formats, then Girl Talk is just a cover artist. I am going to put the lyrics from Girl Talk songs to the music of my guitar, keyboards, drums and any other instrument I can get my hands on. I am going to...

Summer Days and Summer Nights
Do you remember your first Christmas? Your first outdoor picnic? What about the day you were born? If you are anything like Forrest Gump (repeated Gump references=a great movie) the answer to those questions might be “no.”
However, I am not here today to rehash childhood memories with you. I’m here to pose a different “do you remember” question: Do you remember the...

"But frankly I think you are so much more"
Right now, everyone needs to turn their Jonas Brother’s CDs from 8 to zero and pay attention: Brighten is the best band you’ve never heard of. Aside from the occasional sound-clip in a tour video on MySpace from The Maine, you have probably never heard anything by Brighten and I can almost guarantee that you care even less. However, you need to start caring. Immediately.
First and...

"I never went to college and look at me. . .I'm...
I have many flaws. I quote movie lines far too often and I am entirely too opinionated on music. If you have any problems with either of those statements, please feel free to exit out of your browser whenever you feel is necessary. With that being said, let me lay down some Gospel on yo’ sinfull souls:
ORANGE COUNTY has one of the best soundtracks I have ever laid ears upon.
ORANGE...

We're all being tricked
So the music industry is in a lull at the moment. Physical album sales and concert ticket sales are at an all time low. Chalk it up to the bad economy, the music industry is not doing so hot in comparison. However, instead of taking one to the chin, the music industry has engaged in some of the most goofy tomfoolery I have seen in a while: promise rings.
Everyone knows that teeny-bopper pop music...

U2 in Sommerville, Bono's ego forced to wait in...
U2 pulled the quintessential my-band-has-gotten-huge-and-we-sold-out-hardcore-in-the-90s-but-we-want-to show-the-world-we-are-still-a-legitimate-rock-band-even-though-our-lead-singer bends-over-anytime-he-can-prove-to-the-world-he’s-a-humanitatian move and played a suprise show in Davis Square on Wednesday at the Sommerville theatre. All 3,000 U2 fans still in existence in Massachussetts...

Memories in Texas →
So I got a computer when I graduated High School and soon added a digital recording set-up to the mix. As a result of boredom and poor humor, my buddy Jonny O and myself formed what was to be known as Memories in Texas. The only real way to describe it, is that it’s pretty indescribable. Take a look for yourself.
Just as all good things eventually come to an end, Memories in Texas did the...

"You know how I know you're gay? You listen to...
Actor Paul Rudd had many fantastic one-liners in the movie “The 40 Year Old Virgin,” but I feel like that one is the most definitive. It is a widely known fact that dudes-for whatever reason-are looked down upon for listening to Coldplay. You better start practicing your scowls and homophobic Coldplay-related puns, because if I told you that I don’t think Coldplay is a great...

Halleluja, Holy S#!t!
I’ve decided that all music critics don’t know anything about anything when it comes to music. They are the true fair-weather friends to the music industry. It’s their job to listen to music before it hits the streets and with that, tell the general public how they should feel about it…before the general public gets the chance to form their own opinions. I would be lying if...

Things are not Always as They Appear.
I think The Way The Music Died is the first emblematic music documentary of our time. In class, professor Anderson said that the documentary
has something for everyone.
I found this hard to believe, at first, as I knew the documentary was released before mash-up music made waves in the industry. I was not expecting to find anything relevant to my paper’s topic of Girl Talk and copyright law...
